What makes the PTA special?
The PTA is characterized by its close collaboration between parents and the school. It provides an opportunity to build valuable connections and gain a better understanding of the school’s processes. For me, it was a chance to see the school from a new perspective.
Working in the PTA is enjoyable and also serves as a kind of self-assessment – how quickly can I find solutions when things don’t go as planned? The strong sense of teamwork is always evident. In my role as Head of the Celebration Committee, I experienced tremendous support from both PTA members and students. For instance, my son Alexander and his friends played a key role in making events successful, whether by preparing and organizing Santa Claus and Easter Bunny gifts or creating posters for the summer festival. It was impressive to see how they consistently contributed with enthusiasm and reliability over two years. This collaboration was a real "wow" moment for me, and I’m convinced that the boys not only took on responsibility but also strengthened their teamwork skills in a lasting way.
Additionally, the PTA is constantly evolving and always open to new ideas. Communication and organization are highly efficient.
How can someone join the PTA?
The PTA introduces itself at the beginning of the school year and is present at many school events. Those interested can reach out directly via the school portal or PTA WhatsApp groups. Each area of the PTA – such as the library, celebrations, theater, or traffic safety – has its own groups with leaders and volunteers who dedicate their time.
How much time does PTA work require?
PTA work is highly flexible. Even as a full-time working mother, I was able to manage my responsibilities effectively. The team is very supportive during busy times, so the time commitment remains manageable. I’m happy to invest this time – not only to support the school but also to create a positive impact for my own children.
What has been your most memorable experience with the PTA?
My most memorable experience was working with the students, especially my son and his friends. Their dedication over two years and their reliable contributions to various projects deeply impressed me. It demonstrated the value of teamwork – not just in the moment, but as a lifelong skill.
